Interlude to Storytelling

So she stayed
She knew he made her smile
So she stayed
She knew that she cared
So she stayed
She felt that he was kind
So she stayed
She was comfortable with him
So she stayed
She'd put in the time
So she stayed
He'd put in the time
So she stayed
She liked the way he smelled
So she stayed
She liked the way he looked at her
So she stayed
She liked the way he spoke to her
So she stayed
She liked to hear his voice
So she stayed

But if she knew
She would leave
If only she knew what she deserved
She would leave
If she understood her value
She would leave
If she could look in the mirror and see what everyone else sees
She would leave
If she knew that she was so much more than he made her out to be
She would leave
If she recognized she was worth more than her weight in gold
She would leave
If she realized he didn't respect her
She would leave

If she understood that no matter how great she was, she couldn't upgrade him & Beyonce doesn't speak truths; she speaks dollars and cents
She would leave
If she knew there was someone out there worth her time
She would leave
If she knew he looked at every girl the same way
She would leave
If she knew he told every girl the same things
She would leave
If she could see that she was only an option
She would leave
But she did know
All those things....

To her it was like a game. Trying to see what moves he'd make next, and always being one step ahead. To her it was entertainment, like her own real life sitcom. To her it was practice, sharpening her skills for the real thing. To her it was a nice story to tell later on down the road. To her it was something new, something different, like a tourist attraction or better yet a road trip with the destination unknown.

And if he knew.... well if he knew.... he probably wouldn't think "he got it like that".
If he knew...he'd probably do better
If he knew...then he would appreciate her
If he knew...then the others wouldn't matter
If he knew...then he'd realize what he had
And if he realized what he had....

Then to her, it wouldn't be a game
